TwinWin: buy-one-get-one network
Proof the deal is working.
Members of a buy-one-get-one scheme feel the value straight away. The restaurants, cafés, salons and hotels giving the deal don't, and each one that leaves makes the membership worth less. As a freelancer I designed TwinWin's merchant portal and public website, and refined its member app, which was already designed.
- Client
- TwinWin, Syria
- Role
- Freelance product designer
- Scope
- Merchant portal, member app, website
- Status
- Shipped
Merchants quietly leave.
Two coffees, one paid: the member sees the benefit at once. The merchant pays for it at once and sees the benefit much later, if ever.
A restaurant owner with three branches.
A family business owner asking one question: is this worth it? And members who need a reason to open the app between visits.
A short code at the counter.
A member taps redeem and gets a short code to read out at the counter. The merchant types it into the portal, and it lands in a log with the date and time. That one code feeds the history, the analytics and the member's 'you saved' number.
A dashboard that answers 'was it worth it?'
The first screen shows redeemed vouchers, repeat visitors and reviews. A second rail lets an owner switch between branches in one click without leaving the page.
Where the portal and the app meet.
Most of the work was making one redemption show up correctly in three places.
The same code everywhere
The code a member reads at the counter is what the merchant types in, and what every chart and 'you saved' number counts.
Two rails for branch owners
Outlets on one rail, navigation on the other, so an owner switches branch in one click without leaving the page.
Show the rule before it's broken
Only one voucher is live at a time. The rest are greyed with a lock and a link to the rules, instead of an error at the till.
What went live.
3 surfaces: Shipped in 2024
Merchant portal, member app and marketing site.
60 + screens: The app, refined
Onboarding, feed, outlet and offer pages, redemption, reviews with photo upload, following, profile editing, plus the states nobody plans for: no connection, new version, delete account, every empty list.
What I owned
- Merchant portal: dashboard, vouchers, analytics
- Website, including Become a Partner
- Member app: edits to the existing design
- The redeem-code loop across all three
Built from the business logic.
I worked out what merchants needed from how the business works, not from research. If I did it again, my first week would be behind the counter at three partner outlets.
